Elsa Ers Brosh is a Turkish contemporary artist whose multidisciplinary practice explores identity, memory, femininity, and diaspora through painting, textile references, and mixed media. Born in Istanbul in 1982, Brosh studied at Parsons School of Design Paris and Sorbonne University before pursuing a career in fashion and textile design. These formative disciplines continue to shape her visual language, particularly her engagement with materiality, ornament, pattern, and surface.
Working across the boundaries of figuration, abstraction, and surrealism, Brosh incorporates recurring motifs such as drapery, hands, fragmented bodies, and decorative elements as carriers of emotional, cultural, and psychological meaning. Her paintings navigate the space between the intimate and the collective, drawing on personal histories and shared cultural memory to examine the fluid nature of belonging and the ways identity is continuously constructed, fractured, and reimagined across cultures.
Brosh has exhibited internationally and is represented by galleries in Turkey and abroad. Her recent practice engages with emotional vulnerability, diasporic experience, and the relationship between contemporary painting and traditional craft, bringing historical and cultural references into dialogue with the visual language of the present.
